Egg Groups and Egg Moves Empty
PostSubject: Egg Groups and Egg Moves   Egg Groups and Egg Moves Icon_minitimeFri May 28, 2010 4:29 pm

Hello there, I'm TitanniumMan141 and this thread is about Egg Moves and Egg Groups.

Ok, listen to this scenario....You put 2 pokemon in the day care. One of them is not a Ditto. You recieve an egg and it hatches to let's say...a charmander.
Hold up! Why does charmander have Dragon Rush?! I'ts not one of it's level learned moves!

Human offsprings get certain traits off their mother and father, right? Well, so do pokemon! If the mother/father of a pokemon have a move thats in the egg group list, then the pokemon will have that move. This makes pokemon more powerful and tactical, depending on the move. For Example-

Giga Drain is one of Chikoritas egg moves.
If I put a Male Sceptile with giga drain in the daycare with a Female Meganium, the offspring (Chikorita) will have Giga drain without the use of a TM or leveling up.

However, if you have paired pokemon with more than 2-4 egg moves for the offspring, the offspring will most likely not recieve all of the egg moves, because remember, the offspring still has to have it's basic move, like Tackle and Pound. The second move like Growl or Leer may be removed depending on the number of egg moves the parents have.

Egg Moves are pssed down from the Father.

There are a total of 14 egg groups.

Monster group: Pokémon in this group are creature-like in appearance and nature.
Water 1 group: Pokémon in this group are amphibious in nature.
Water 2 group: Pokémon in this group are piscine (fish-like) in appearance.
Water 3 group: Pokémon in this group resemble aquatic invertebrates.
Bug group: Pokémon in this group are insectoid (bug-like) in appearance.
Flying group: Pokémon in this group are avian (bird-like) in appearance.
Ground group: The largest group, Pokémon here are terrestrial in nature.
Fairy group: Pokémon in this group are petite and considered cute.
Plant group: Pokémon in this group are plant/grass-like in appearance.
Humanshape group: Pokémon in this group are fully bipedal. Which means 2 legs and 2 arms.
Mineral group: Pokémon in this group are crystalline or silicon-based.
Indeterminate group: Pokémon in this group are amorphous, having no definite form.
Ditto group: Pokémon in this group are capable of breeding with all others (regardless of gender) aside from the no eggs group.
Dragon group: Pokémon in this group are draconic in appearance

You said this, ""that CANNOT be paired to mate, therefore, having no offsprings at all""

You have incorrect information, the following Pokemon can all breed with Ditto, therefore, having offspring:

Shedinja
Magnemite
Magneton
Voltorb
Electrode
Lunatone
Solrock
Baltoy
Claydol
Staryu
Starmie
Beldum
Metang
Metagross
Unown
Tyrogue

Here's some "odd couples" from the 14 egg groups. I've presonally bred all of them, and if Pokemon were real. The results would be interesting.

First, the famous one. Skitty X Wailord. Wailord can also breed with Bidoof, Shinx, and Seedot.

Others, Caterpie X Flygon. Loppunny X Sableye, Volbeat, and Cacnea. Slowpoke X Garchomp. Magikarp X Salamence. Gardevoir X Muk. Zangoose X Seviper. I guess i'm quite the Breeder, or just the owner of some really messed up Pokemon.

Lol. Thanks. I'm so surprised that Nintendo let all this weird incest-like mess happen. Well, I did get a Modest Bagon with all 31 IVS from that Magikarp X).
