So a few days late posting this but a new trailer came out for Sun and Moon…. Aaaannnnddd it looks amazing!!!
So, Solgaleo and Lunala are confirmed names (leaked before this trailer but had not been confirmed). Solgaleo being steel/psychic fits, everyone expected fire but the sun is a burning ball of metal and will eventually be fully iron so the steel type has very clever tie ins. Lunala's typings were less of a surprise, but its signature move of Solgeist beam looks so cool!! I'm still undecided on which one I prefer, leaning towards Solgaleo but a few months to decide still, what about you guys, which legendary is your favorite?
As for the starters, Rowlet is currently out in front for me, but final evo's will need to be seen first before I decide for sure.
The general gameplay looks very improved, graphics look impressive for pokemon and the battles seem to have had a major upgrade, people watching in background, trainers staying visible, full battlefields and not just field rings. Gamefreak have really stepped it up it seems and I really am very excited for gen 7.
So what do you guys make of the trailers so far, looking forward to hearing your opinions and discussing gen 7 more.

| Trailer did look amazing. The legendaries look awesome also. Rowlet is currently my starter but truthfully on pretty much every new gen i've used the grass starter(Love the added challenge lol). The New AR feature looks cool, won't use it much I doubt lol. | |

| To be honest, the problems I had with 6th generation, being only XY and ORAS, were the lack of interesting characters and the overall easy difficulty that just didn't make them that much enjoyable for me (seriously, the "rival", or should I say "friend", in Sun/Moon uses the starter that's WEAK to yours).
Legendary Pokemon and starter Pokemon are generally what I'm least curious about; I'm more interested in the map design of the region, the difficulty, and what kind of characters they introduce that make them stand out. I mean with the legendaries, I can't use them competitively, so they aren't too much of a concern for me.
The main thing I want is just for the difficulty to be spiked, or at least add an option for higher difficultly like Black 2/White 2. I can't exactly find something enjoyable and worthwhile to complete if I'm breezing through it. A few months ago, I played through White 2 on Challenge mode, and honestly, as good as I am, even I got cornered at some points in the game and that's what made completing it all the more satisfying. ORAS were nowhere near as difficult as the original RS and in fact, some things were actually nerfed in that game from the original RS (the gym leaders :/).
I also still hate the absurd buffed Exp. Share, which I'm certain is going to stay buffed in Sun/Moon. Wish that wasn't the case, but whatever.
This was pretty negative and all, but honestly, I can't really find anything positive to say yet, because nothing that I particularly care about has been shown yet.

| I have to agree with everything Tman said. The rivals in X & Y were too easy; and they had little character development alone. They all just stroked your ego by giving you easy wins. I hope Sun and Moon gives us just one, maybe two, rivals. That and get rid of the experience share until post Pokemon League. They made a game with a story in it. It's best to not blow it off so you can do the metagame. | |

| I agree but something Cmndr said is probably the reason the story ends up being so easy: A lot of competitive battlers talk less about the story and more about the online battles. I'm not one of them which is why most of my favorite Pokemon games were because of the story and like Tman said the difficulty. However Lots of players I have spoken to wanted the online battles more. Heck some did'nt complete the story for a long time lol. Even so I hope they do raise the difficulty level or at least make it an option. Also I always enjoyed an awesome story. | |

| These are all great points guys, and I have to agree with all of them. It does appear that GameFreak put more effort into online battling needs than story, hence the exp. share and ease of story completion. Leave it to TtMan to be our conscience and I'd never been able to articulate what bothered me before until TtMan put it into words. In fact I recently played through Red &Blue and had forgotten how much more difficult the previous generations were. Thx TtMan, now I'll have to play through Black &White 2 again! All in all I did like the new trailer and am looking forward to it, the new region looks pretty amazing. Let's just hope the gameplay gets an upgrade as well. | |

| I actually completely agreed with you Tman as o read that message. However I just watched a theory from gamexplain on youtube that could give us all hope that they have actually been developing an amazing story all along. Let me know what you think guys and gals (robbed from Sabe lol)

| Oh and I also want to share the two new pokes which I assume you've all seen already, names are Japanese version names so not likely to be their English language names although nekkoala would be fine but iwanko I hope gets improved.
https://youtu.be/3HKxij_OoDM
A koala type pokeMon is well overdue, I wasn't expecting it from a hawaii themed region and thought we'd be waiting for an Australian themed game which surely must be gen 8 now that I think of how many unique pokemon designs could come from Australian flora and fauna.
The koalas ability is great also and will have an impact on the meta game for sure.
The dog I don't see being as great as stoutland but it may be more of use in a contest or customisation type game gimmicks in my opinion.
So back to you guys for more opinions!

| I am most excited for the koala Pokemon! His ability is interesting, but if I was to choose the ability, I would change it so the ability always assures the Pokemon comes out to battle asleep. Koala bears sleep for 22 hours a day; having a Pokemon come out already sleeping would prevent Thunder Waves, Toxics, and Toxic Spikes from working. Moves like Snore and Sleep Talk would benefit the Pokemon. The ability could also be a hidden ability for Abra as its Red pokedex entry says it sleeps 18 hours a day. The rock dog Pokemon might not make much sense, but maybe its evolution is a diamond like creature. It would be a reference to David Bowie's 1974 album, Diamond Dogs. It would be a sinister creature which could use moves like Rock Slide or Power Gem. Album cover put in for reference if it surprised you

3 new pokemon, loving all the information that is trickling out.
As dobbs says I imagine these pokemon will be available earlier in the game, meaning they will likely be a apart of your in game team.
Yungooses ability seems a bit broken I mean double the attack for any pokemon that switches in or enters the battle which I interpret as every pokemon other than the first pokemon used?? It will have to have low hp as a result otherwise it would sweep way too many times.
Regional bird being a woodpecker is cool and something new. Also for anime we know Ash will be catching it so that's cool too. I also reckon Ash will get litten and/or rowlet due to having only the water starter this region and I don't see him getting poplio as a result
Grubin has a cool look and I am hoping he ends up looking anything nearly as cool as scolipede. Fingers crossed.
Cmndr o like your ideas, abra could get definite sleep as a special ability and that would be nice to see. As for the David bowie tribute tgat would be very cool and very plausible

| The names of the characters are Elios and Selene. Elios could come from Helios in Greek for Sun, and Selene means Moon in Greek. It also fits into ancient Egyptian culture as Cleopatra VII's son and daughter were named Alexander Helios and Cleopatra Selene respectively. #historylessonoftheday | |

| Guys, I just thought of the theory to what the rock dog Pokemon is; and it's been staring us in the face the whole time:
It's a fossil Pokemon!
Introducing the Hawaiian poi dog: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaiian_Poi_Dog
This breed of dog is extinct; and it looks exactly like it!

| Does anyone have any thoughts on all the new information we have received? It looks as though gym battles will not be present and some of the new abilities look pretty interesting. I was a little disappointed that the PokeBank will not be up until January. That means online play will be limited to Sun and Moon teams until then. Any more thoughts? | |

| I too was confused about the pokebank delay but if I'm not mistaken you may be able to trade among sun/moon and ORAS/XY games. If I'm wrong someone correct me. Pokebank makes it much easier though. The Z move for Eevee I'm excited to see as all his stats go way up. A defensive Z move how cool is that lol. | |

| Gotta say I'm v excited, so much cool info is coming out, the chinese leaks from Months back were 100% accurate it seems because the 2nd stage of the starters will likely tie in to the final stages.
Loving the alolan forms of 1st gen pokes, even if in many cases they still wont be overly competitive pokemon its just a brilliant idea anyway.
Ultra beasts being people who've "morphed" into pokemon through experiments seems like a strange way to go but its different, new and everything about alola just seems like a breath of fresh air from the tried and trusted beat 8 gyms, complete the pokedex format...still largely true but I get the feeling story will be more important here, and of course the online side of things with the festival plaza too.
What is everyones favourite new pokemon so far?? For me it's still Rowlet...or should I say what I hope Rowlet will become in his final stage...the hooded archer pokemon from the leaks. Although I am hopeful for some very cool komala, salandit and even wimpod evolutions plus some we haven't seen yet perhaps
Will anyone be getting the demo also??

| HUGE SPOILERS in this post, only read on if your ok with hearing them (Fair warning)
So the leaks of 79 7th gen pokemon are out...many we knew but many that are new.
So what are the highlights:
1. Wimpods evolution is everything I could have hoped for, its amazing!!
2. Komala has no evolution?? That would be a big let down, but there are 143 pokemon rumoured to be in the alola dex so I'm hoping there still might be one.
3. Pikipeks evolution actually being the previously rumoured toucan pokemon was a surprise, and throws my theory of Ash catching one into doubt as it does not look a like a typical Ash poke (I'll cover this in my Ash post though)
4. Salandits evoluton is badass.
5. Ultra beasts look so weird, still not sure whats going on there!
6. Legendary base forms or pre-evolutions look very interesting, and if evolutions based on order of sprites, hint of solgaleo and lunala being part of the same branched evolution....mind blown!!
For those of you not avoiding spoilers, let me know your thoughts.

| Well, I was half right about Rockruffs evolution. It's evolution depends on the version; but the moon version is a sinister werewolf! I love the final evolution of the Grass Pokemon! A archer woodsman with such a creative name! I hope his hidden ability is Sniper. It would be so fitting! | |

| This is a spreadsheet displaying a compilation of all of the deciphered base stats, buffs, nerfs, new moves, abilities and mechanic changes. It does not appear to be 100% complete yet (more so in the "New Pokemon" section), however what it contains now may be useful for review.
